SIP Trunk Consulting
Get the right voice connectivity for your business. We help you choose, configure, and optimise SIP trunks so your calls are clear, reliable, and cost-effective — across Zimbabwe and Zambia.
What Is SIP Trunking?
SIP trunking connects your business phone system to the public telephone network over the internet, replacing traditional ISDN and analogue phone lines with a flexible digital connection. Instead of paying for physical lines you barely use, you provision exactly the number of voice channels your business needs and scale up or down as demand changes. For businesses in Zimbabwe and Zambia, where traditional telephony infrastructure can be unreliable and expensive, SIP trunking offers a practical path to better voice connectivity at a lower cost. But the technology only delivers results when it is set up correctly. Poorly configured SIP trunks produce dropped calls, echo, one-way audio, and frustrated customers. That is where M&J XSystems comes in. We know the SIP providers operating in both markets, and we configure everything to work properly with your phone system, your internet connection, and your specific network conditions.
Provider Selection
We know the SIP trunk providers operating in Zimbabwe and Zambia — who is reliable, who offers the best rates, and who to avoid. We evaluate options against your call patterns, geography, number requirements, and budget, then match you with the right provider for your business. If your needs span both countries, we source providers that can serve both territories seamlessly.
Configuration & Testing
We configure your SIP trunks to work seamlessly with your phone system, whether that is 3CX, FreePBX, or another SIP-compatible PBX. Every deployment includes thorough call quality testing across different scenarios — local, mobile, international — and we tune codec, bandwidth, and jitter buffer settings for your specific network conditions so calls sound clear from day one.
Cost Optimisation
We analyse your call patterns — local, mobile, international, after-hours — and negotiate rates to reduce your monthly voice costs. Many businesses in the region overpay for voice connectivity without realising it. We identify savings opportunities, recommend the right channel count, and help you avoid paying for capacity you do not use.
Failover & Redundancy
We set up backup trunks and failover routing so your business stays reachable even if your primary provider has issues or your main internet link goes down. Calls automatically redirect to a secondary trunk, a mobile number, or an alternative site. Your customers never hear a dead line, and your team never misses a critical call.
How SIP Trunking Saves You Money
Switching from traditional phone lines to SIP trunking can significantly reduce your monthly voice costs. Businesses across Zimbabwe and Zambia are making the switch because the savings are immediate and substantial — often 30 to 60 per cent compared to legacy ISDN or analogue services. Here is how:
No Physical Lines
Eliminate the cost of maintaining ISDN or analogue lines. SIP trunks use your existing internet connection, so there are no line rental fees, no technician call-outs for line faults, and no waiting weeks for a new line to be provisioned.
Pay Per Channel
Only pay for the number of simultaneous call channels you actually need — not a fixed bundle of lines you rarely fill. If your business has seasonal peaks, you can add channels temporarily and scale back when demand drops.
Lower Call Rates
SIP providers typically offer lower per-minute rates than traditional telcos, especially for international and mobile calls. For businesses with high call volumes to numbers outside Zimbabwe or Zambia, the savings add up quickly.
Scale Without Hardware
Adding or removing channels is a configuration change, not a technician visit. Need ten more channels for a product launch? Done in minutes. Scale with your business without capital expenditure on new hardware or infrastructure.
Bundle Numbers
Run multiple phone numbers — local, toll-free, or international direct-dial — on a single trunk without paying for separate lines. This is particularly useful for businesses that maintain different numbers for different departments or territories.
Consolidate Multi-Site
Connect multiple office locations through a single SIP trunk provider instead of managing separate line contracts at each site. Centralised billing, centralised management, and consistent call quality across every branch.
Who It's For
SIP trunk consulting is relevant for any business that makes or receives phone calls. Whether you are a small office looking to cut costs or a large organisation modernising your entire voice infrastructure, we can help. We work with organisations of all sizes across Zimbabwe and Zambia, including:
Replacing ISDN or Analogue Lines
Your traditional phone lines are being phased out, becoming unreliable, or simply costing too much. SIP trunking is the modern, cost-effective replacement — and the sooner you switch, the sooner you stop paying legacy line rentals.
Existing PBX Systems
You already have a phone system in place but need better, cheaper, or more reliable voice connectivity from your trunk provider. We evaluate your current setup and find a SIP provider that delivers the quality and value your business deserves.
Multi-Branch Offices
You have offices in multiple locations across Zimbabwe, Zambia, or both, and want to consolidate voice services under a single provider with centralised management, shared dial plans, and consistent call quality everywhere.
High International Call Volumes
Your business makes frequent international calls and you are paying premium rates on traditional lines. SIP trunks offer dramatically lower per-minute rates for international destinations, cutting your monthly bill significantly.
Deploying a New 3CX System
You are setting up a new business phone system and need the right SIP trunks configured from the start. We ensure your trunks are provisioned, tested, and optimised so you launch with reliable, high-quality calls from day one.
Unhappy With Your Current Provider
Your current SIP provider has reliability issues, poor call quality, uncompetitive rates, or inadequate support. We help you evaluate alternatives, handle the migration, and port your numbers without disruption to your business.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a SIP trunk?
A SIP trunk is a virtual phone line that connects your business phone system to the public telephone network over the internet. Instead of a physical copper or fibre line running into your building, a SIP trunk uses your existing internet connection to carry voice calls. It replaces traditional ISDN or analogue lines with a more flexible, scalable, and cost-effective digital connection that can handle multiple simultaneous calls on a single trunk.
Will my call quality be affected?
Call quality depends on your internet connection and how well your SIP trunks are configured. A poorly configured SIP trunk on a congested network will produce echo, delay, and dropped calls. We test your network thoroughly before going live, optimise codec settings for your available bandwidth, configure Quality of Service (QoS) priorities to protect voice traffic, and set up ongoing monitoring so issues are caught and resolved before they affect your team.
Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. We handle number porting from your existing provider so your customers, partners, and contacts continue reaching you on the same numbers they already know. The porting process is managed end-to-end by our team, including all paperwork and co-ordination with your current and new providers. There is typically no downtime during the switch.
How many simultaneous calls can I make?
The number of simultaneous calls depends on your internet bandwidth and the number of SIP channels you provision. As a rough guide, each call requires approximately 100 Kbps of bandwidth. We assess your available bandwidth, analyse your peak call volumes, and recommend the right number of channels so you never run out of capacity during busy periods — without overpaying for channels you do not use.
Do I need a specific phone system?
SIP trunks work with any SIP-compatible PBX, including 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk, Grandstream, and most modern IP phone systems. If you already have a PBX in place, we configure the trunks to integrate seamlessly. If you are deploying a new system, we recommend 3CX for the best combination of features, reliability, and value — and we can deploy both the phone system and SIP trunks together.
What if my internet goes down?
We configure failover routing so calls automatically redirect to backup SIP trunks on an alternative internet link, to mobile numbers, or to a secondary office location. If you use 3CX, the mobile app continues working on cellular data, so your team stays reachable even during a complete internet outage. We design these failover plans during the initial setup so your business is protected from day one.
